The University of Auckland has asked Steven Briggs to lead the introduction of a proposed taught Master of Artificial Intelligence degree. His role will be to project manage the design of the degree between the faculties of Science and Engineering and then prepare the proposals for authorisation. The new degree will start next year if it is authorised. It will provide students with an improved pathway to a PhD and reflects the growing demand from industry.
