Agile Management and Mindset
Agile is a mindset that is at least 70 years old and was re-discovered, branded, and applied in the IT sector 20+ years ago. The mindset can be applied to any industry and any environment in a range of ways. The agile values and principles are a great guide to how this can be done, and we’ll show you how they are used to improve performance.
Some impressive claims are made about agile methodologies, and the research shows that the likelihood of success increases by around a factor of four when agile techniques are used effectively. We’ll show you how this is achieved by doing less, making fewer errors, and working in a more productive fashion as a team.

Agile is essentially a mindset that is used to reduce the risk of failure due to complex environments being unpredictable. Experience has shown that testing our assumptions as we go is a better approach in these situations than forming a sizeable plan for the whole endeavour and testing it at the end. We’ll examine case studies that prove this and show you the values and principles and how they are applied to achieve impressive results in a range of industries. | Agile teams are built on some basic rules that are grounded on fundamental principles of human psychology and capability. Often teams are built without taking them into consideration because they are inconvenient to a greater plan. We’ll show you the rules and demonstrate them during the course. You’ll leave with a greater understanding of why your organisation performs the way it does and how its teams should be made up to improve performance. | Much is said about agile processes. People can get “qualified” to prove they can apply a particular process or adopt a particular role. Agile is a mindset that puts people above processes, so we need engaged people to design or improve the processes to deliver continuous improvement. We’ll examine some popular process methodologies, how they embed the agile principles, and where they might be best suited. We’ll also explore how processes can be tailored to suit more regulated environments with longer timescales. |
