CMDHB - Managerial Excellence

Problem
New initiative - Whai Manaaki (More Time, Better Care) at Counties.
Aim of the program was to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of staff so that patients receive better care from the existing resources.
Chose the New Zealand Institute of Management to deliver a Managerial Excellence (Diploma level 6) programme.
Needed a custom module developing to focus on total quality management and the application of lean.

Our Approach
In conjuction with Garry Miller (then at Excelsis), developed a special programme.
Developed the programme over time to best suit the medical environment and teaching approach at Counties.
Delivered this module in addition to the Project Management module.
Additional coaching sessions for the students on their chosen projects.

Environment
Medical - wards and back office.

Results
High pass rate on the diploma course (100% of students that have submitted to date).
Tremendous feedback from attendees - rating of 80% for overall module effectiveness.
Great anecdotal feedback from management - benefits from the projects delivered are easily paying for the course costs.
